ABOUT TASHMOO MARINA

We have amenities such as water, electricity, picnic tables, drive up wells, bathrooms, showers. Our location on the South Channel is a prime location, because Muscamoot Bay is directly in back of us minutes from Gull Island and Seaway Island.

Our facility has 2 locations, the first being Tashmoo North located at 3272 South Channel Drive. We provide some marine repairs, electric repairs and a variety of boat maintenance, in the fall, winterization and shrink-wrap. We have 4 buildings 2 of which we have heated storage, the other 2 are inside cold storage and we have plenty of outside storage. At haul-out time, included in the storage price is a high pressure hot water bottom wash, shoring, and launch in the spring.

In addition to winter storage, we specialize in haul out procedures for antique boats. Here are owners Bob and Susan in their Sweet Water Chris Craft 1947 19’ runabout Stamped #77 in assembly line.

HISTORY

Tashmoo Marina was once Tashmoo Park, it was an amusement park that was opened by “White Star Line” in 1897 and in 1951 it closed. You can still see the dance pavilion which is one of our inside cold storage facilities. White Star Line built “Tashmoo” which was a 306’ paddlewheel steamer built-in 1899 which the name probably came from Tashmoo on Martha’s Vineyard, it could hold 3500 passengers. Tashmoo Marina is at the northern end of Lake St. Clair. The St. Clair Flats is the largest freshwater river delta in the world! The Tashmoo steamer struck an underwater object and sank at the Amherstburg dock.
